Akron, Ohio (
Wisdom4Today) Considering that Republicans had their clocks cleaned in the last election, you would think the Republican Party would learn that the reason for losing was because the Republican Party has become the Democratic Party of 1980. Nothing demonstrates this more than the fallout from Rush Libaugh's recent speech at the Annual CPAC Convention. While I am not a devoted Rush fan, I do recognize that he understands and openly articulates the ever growing difference between being a conservative and being a Republican.
Sadly, too many Republicans don't see the difference and are following the liberal drumbeat of pseudo-outrage over Limbaugh's recent remarks concerning his desire for President Obama to fail. This in of itself should be a red flag of warning to the Republican Party that it has lost its conservative soul. This was no better demonstrated when the RNC Chairman showed a total lack of conservative back bone and let D.L. Hugely, a has-been comedian posing as a talk show host, challenge and convince him to denounce Limbaugh. This is further demonstrated by the fact that Norm Coleman and Al Frankin, a bigger has-been comedian, are still in court trying to see who won the Senate seat from Minnesota.
Is it any wonder that the Republican Party is becoming a joke to many Americans when has-been comedians can seriously challenge them in interviews and elections? What makes the Republican Party think that redefining conservativism by endorsing liberal ideals to win elections is going to be successful? If you tell your own people that liberal ideas are good because of the times we are in, then don't be surprised when many of them vote for liberals and support liberal policies.
As a classical conservative, it is hard to understand how the Republican Party lost its spine in standing up to liberal propaganda. Where's the fight? Where's the confidence in the truth of conservativism? Why is it that a liberal Democrat will stand up and fight for a lie, but the Republican Party is too afraid to stand up and fight for the truth? If the Republican Party wants the President to succeed in eliminating capitalism and personal liberties, it will be a long time before the Republican Party will ever win another election. If Republicans can not start fighting for the principles that underpin this nation, then do not be surprised when we wake up as the the western version of the Balkans.
